American Clay Earth Plaster
American Clay Earth Plaster is a practical, environmentally-friendly alternative to cement, gypsum, acrylic, and lime plasters. It is compatible with the “breatheable” construction recommended for both historic and new buildings. Natural Earth Plasters from American Clay are easily adapted to Do-It-Yourself projects. The Traditional and Classic method of creating American Clay surfaces is non-toxic, easy to repair and easily reworked.
Earth Plasters are non-dusting, mold and fade resistant, repairable and moisture controlling. American Clay Plasters have a far longer working time than other plasters—up to several days if you need it—so you can take your time and work with confidence that the surface won’t “set” before you’ve achieved the finish you want. You can reuse any excess plaster—even after you’ve mixed it and it’s dried by breaking it up and rehydrating it, there’s no waste. American Clay Plasters can be troweled on like traditional plasters, but you can also spray them on with a drywall hopper.
American Clay Natural Earth Plasters are manufactured in and using materials from the United States, American Clay uses natural clays, recycled and reclaimed aggregates, and vibrant natural pigments in three beautiful finishes: Loma, Porcelina and Marittimo.
FINISHES
LOMA™
The original plaster, LOMA™ provides a range of textures for interior walls. It always serves as a basecoat for all three of the American Clay Plasters, LOMA™ as a final finish brings a finely honed polish to any wall surface. With a slight change in technique, LOMA™ produces sophisticated depth reminiscent of suede, whisper- subtle matte elegance, or rustic organic surfaces with true tactile appeal. LOMA™ is the easiest of the three American Clay Plasters to apply either with a trowel or spray on application.
PORCELINA™
The smoothest plaster provides the opportunity to create traditional opulent Old World marble smooth surfaces. Capturing the architectural wonder and durability of Venetian lime plasters, PORCELINA™ lends a silky polished sheen to once bland wall surfaces without the laborious and hazardous sanding required of acrylic/lime and gypsum finishes. It can be applied with a sleek hard- troweled finish, burnished for greater depth or layered, blended with color and waxed for elegant Italianesque or Contemporary walls. MARITTIMO™
The strongest of the three plasters, MARITTIMO™ draws its’ beauty and charm from the Mediterranean villages of Morocco and the playfulness and color of the Caribbean islands. Crushed shell aggregates give it strength. It is the shell itself that provides the speckle that adds depth and subtle sheen to any interior environment. Somewhat reminiscent of the ancient shell terrazzo floors of Italy and Egypt, MARITTIMO™ brings a soft patina.
